Swiss company will show at MACH 2008 how its bonded abrasives grinding wheels, diamond and CBN grinding and dressing tools can vastly improve productivity
Winterthur Technology Group specialises in designing and manufacturing process-orientated grinding equipment, will be demonstrating at the UK's MACH 2008 machine tool exhibition how it can provide its customers with vastly improved productivity through greater accuracies and higher quality products.

Products and technologies will include the following.

* Winterthur bonded abrasives grinding wheels.

* Wendt diamond and CBN grinding and dressing tools.

* Specialist Rappold Winterthur large diameter cut off wheels for the steel industry.

* SlipNaxos hot-pressed grinding wheels for grinding steel slabs and billets.

The Winterthur Technology Group is a leading manufacturer of industry- standard process-orientated grinding technologies for the automotive, aerospace, machine tools, ball and roller bearing, tool and steel making industries.

It makes successful, profitable production achievable by providing the grinding tools, technology and systems that enable even exceptionally tight tolerances and complex shapes to be ground.

Based on the Group's substantial, in-depth technical and technological know-how, the very latest, easily applicable, specialist grinding technology is made available through the Group's continuous and practically orientated research and development.

For example, one third of vitrified precision grinding wheels have been developed within the last three years.

Winterthur products include precision grinding wheels and diamond dressing tools and specialist grinding machines dedicated to the grinding of ultra-hard materials (such as tungsten carbide, polycrystalline diamond, ceramics and boron nitride) and full technical support.

Quality of every individual item is assured by manufacture in one of the Group's 14 state of the art production sites, most of which are in Europe, and all of which operate to both ISO 9001 and 14001.

Quality of both the R and D and manufacture enables the Group to assume full responsibility for the proper functioning of grinding wheels and the dressing tool.

A strong presence across the world ensures customers of good local technical back up.

Winterthur offers grinding wheels for high precision machining, including conventional abrasive and superabrasive grinding wheels such as diamond and CBN.

These are used for gear grinding, ID, OD centreless and cylindrical grinding, surface, profile and creep feed grinding, thread and worm grinding.

Wheel technology is based on the exceptional experience the Group has gained in the automotive, gas turbine and jet engine industries producing products for grinding automotive gears, creep feed applications for gas turbine and aerospace industries, cylindrical grinding of fuel injection parts.

To ensure the best and fastest service, grinding wheel blanks are stored in Winterthur's site near Zurich airport, Switzerland, to be machined and profiled in very short lead times.
