Man guilty of claw hammer attack

A Swindon man has been found guilty of hitting another with a claw hammer, leaving him with permanent nerve damage in his face.
Sheldon Thomas, 27, of Holbein Square, Grange Park, denied attacking Terry Stevens, 51, by a cash machine in Worsley Road, Freshbrook, last October.
A jury at Swindon Crown Court found Thomas guilty of two charges of grievous bodily harm and robbery.
Mr Stevens needed 50 stitches for his wounds.
Thomas will be sentenced on 30 May and was remanded in custody.
