Skewered pup’s miracle recovery

A PUPPY which ran away from home was found impaled on a fence railing.

Tango, a 20-month old female boxer dog, was found skewered on a fence in Pear Tree Lane, Higham, on April 18.

It had escaped from its home in Shorne the previous day but was found by its owner, 47-year-old Nigel Donovan, around a mile away hanging from the fence.

Firefighters from Strood used an electric saw to free the dog, which was left with a gash through the groin where the railing impaled it.

Mr Donovan, who lives in Brewers Road, Shorne, said: "The following morning I found her hanging there. It was a horrific sight. She had obviously tried to jump the fence but got it very wrong.

"When she saw me her head came up but she didn't make a sound. The vet can't believe the recovery she has made. She has already started walking around."
