VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA -- (Marketwire) -- 09/15/08 -- PassportMetals Inc. (Passport) ( TSXV:PPI ) is pleased to announce that it has identified a copper bearingmanto on its Gilda Joint Venture Property located 25 kilometresnorth east of the regional mining centre of Copiapo in Region III,Chile. Phase I exploration consisted of excavator trenching, roadbuilding, mapping and sampling. Preliminary bedrock chip and grabsampling in a newly discovered manto returned copper grades from0.475% to 3.454% from a total of 5 samples.
The manto lies on a flat to gentle slope and bed rock exposure islimited. There are two small exposures at surface and an adit. Twobedrock chip samples were taken from the adit. They ran 2.271% Cuover 0.75 metres and 3.159% Cu over 0.75 metres. The manto isrelatively flat lying and is about 1 metre wide in the adit.
Grab samples were also collected from the adit and from oxidematerial next to two surface exposures that are approximately 45metres southwest and 60 metres northeast of the adit. The grabsample from the adit ran 3.454% Cu. Two grab samples from the oxidematerial ran 1.815% Cu and 0.475% Cu respectively.
The area hosting the manto is cut by a number of vertical quartzveins and faults, suggesting the manto could be considerablythicker in the areas that cross the vein structures.
Passport plans to open the manto both along strike and down therelatively flat dip at regular intervals with an excavator. Allexcavator trenches will be mapped and sampled in preparation fordrilling of the high priority target areas within the manto in the4th quarter of 2008.
The Gilda exploration program is being undertaken by TerrenceSmithson, P.Eng. (Alaska), a Qualified Person as defined inNational Instrument 43-101. All assaying was conducted by AcmeAnalytical Laboratories Ltd. in Santiago, Chile. QA/QC protocolsincluding standards were employed by Passport.
