Fuchs introduces Bebco EPS 6000 Purge/Pressurization System

Pepperl+Fuchs introduces the 6000 Series PurgePressurization System - the latest addition to the Bebco EPS familyof purge/pressurization systems. The system comes with all Bebcofamily system features as standard, is user-configurable to satisfyparticular applications, and can be used with enclosures up to 250cu. ft. (7.1 cu.m.) of volume. It is also universal certified toall applicable updated standards for both Gas and Dust hazardousatmospheres. It is IECEx, cULus and ATEX directive certified, andcomplies with Safety Integrity Level IEC 61508 SIL 2.

The 6000 series is a complete purging system that contains thecontroller, pneumatic, electrical I/O and programming interfacehoused in a durable type 4X, IP66-rated housing. Additionally, allexposed parts are 316L (UNS31603) stainless steel, making the 6000series well suited for use in offshore, refinery and pharmaceuticalapplications where corrosive or potentially explosive environmentsexist. For users who wish to custom fit the newpurge/pressurization system to their enclosure, the 6000 series isalso available in a cost effective component-kit modular version.

Universal mounting options facilitate easy integration intoexisting or customized systems, and enable the unit to be mountedto the enclosure in any vertical or horizontal orientation. Theunit’s “smart vent” works on all enclosure sizes,and includes a gravity-free flapper and rotatable vent cap withspark arrestor that allows the vent to also be mounted in anyorientation – even inside the enclosure.

A user-friendly interface with back-lit LCD and highly visible LEDsenables easy programming and operation to meet specific applicationrequirements. This also eliminates the need for analog pressuregauges, as the screen displays information such as flow, pressureand system status, with pressure and flow feedback provided to thecontrol unit by the vent. The interface also provides diagnosticsfor reviewing start-up and operating parameters, and can be rotatedto any orientation required by the application. Additionally, themanifold has an automatic purging and pressurization feature thatoffers considerable cost savings on gas in applications usingnon-atmospheric air and allows the system to automatically purgeand pressurize without an operator present.

Purge and pressurization protection is suitable for manyapplications, and is one of the most flexible Ex protectionsolutions. Bebco EPS systems from Pepperl+Fuchs provide the meansto operate general purpose equipment in classified areas, or inenvironments that are highly corrosive or dusty. The principlebehind purge and pressurization systems is to prevent a corrosive,dusty or potentially explosive atmosphere from penetrating a closedprotective housing using a standard overpressure technology. Thesesystems control and monitor compressed instrument air or inert gasthrough the protected enclosure(s) so as to remove and prevent theaccumulation of flammable gas, vapors or dust, thus making theinside of the pressurized enclosure safe.
