Bloomfield on cue for SI clubs' pool team

Celia Bloomfield was Marlborough's top performer for the SouthIsland team at last week's Clubs New Zealand 2008 women'seight-ball championships.
Bloomfield, one of seven Marlborough players in the South Islandteam, scored three singles wins in the South Island's 170-142 winover North Island at Clubs of Marlborough in Blenheim.
Six Marlborough players qualified for post-section play in thesingles. Helen Pope was the best, reaching the last 16 in the 54player field.
Tokoroa's Denise Wilkinson won the title, beating Sara Hansen fromthe Richmond Club in Christchurch in the final. Marlboroughfinished fourth out of the 27 teams taking part with teenagerKimberly Brewer winning the award for the best first year player.
