As with the brushless, permanent magnet motors, the rotor of theLafert HP motor has no losses.
Also, stator currents are lower, consequently generating lowerlosses due to low current demand (Joule effect), which in turnresults in reduced temperature rise for both the windings andbearings.
These low temperature rises can go on to eliminate the need for acooling fan and its related losses.
Ultimately, the sum of these minimised heat gains provides theoptions of higher running speeds or extended bearing life.
The enhanced performance characteristics of the HP motor alsopermit Lafert to offer smaller frame size solutions and weightsavings of around 50%.
All these features combine to enable engineers to achieve compactefficient drive solutions, particularly for such applicationsinvolving pumps, fans and compressors that are substantially morecompact, lighter in weight and less expensive to run.
And all these benefits are provided from one development source dueto the Lafert in-house technology and the ability to harness thebest from proven components such as the AC induction motor standardstator and the surface-mounted permanent magnet rotor from thebrushless servo motor.
The new HP motors from Lafert are available for both single andthree phase supply with ratings 0.75 - 2.2kW, 200 - 240V 50/60Hzand 0.75 - 22kW, 380 - 480V 50/60Hz, respectively.
The HP motor can be used with a standard servo drive when fittedwith an appropriate transducer but, ideally, it should be used inconjunction with a sensorless drive, as developed by Lafert Drives,to maximise the motor performance and superior efficiency for thespecific application.
