Silicon Forest Electronics announces expansion

Increase speed and flexibility for quick turn, low-volumeproduction, while adding high speed equipment to increasecapabilities for customers with higher volume orders. The additionsin capacity will move SFE from an overall machine capacity of about3 million placements per month to over 7 million placements permonth. Additional capacity improvements in late 2008 will allow foran additional 2 to 4 million placements per month depending uponmachine selection.

Frank Nichols, President of Silicon Forest Electronics, says thatnew lines are now fully operational. "The net effect of theadditions will be an increase in production capacity to levels thatwill allow our quick turn business to always be available; not justwhen excess capacity is available. We have a line dedicated todealing with quick turn orders, two lines to deal with our normalhigh-mix/low volume business and a fourth line to handle higherrate on-shore production requirements. We are excited about thisnew phase of the Silicon Forest growth. In addition to thison-shore increase in capacity, we have our line in Zhuhai, Chinafor orders that fit the off-shore model. All in all we are in themidst of some very exciting growth for Silicon Forest Electronicsto better serve our customers in time to market, customer serviceand delivery."

This expansion, coupled with the recent partnering arrangementbetween U.K. and China-based ACW and Silicon Forest Electronics,provides customers with a "one-stop" source for a broaderrange of contract manufacturing needs.
