Senior citizens meeting the qualifying criteria of the program canhave the county and city property taxes on their principalresidence frozen at the amount it was in the year they initiallyqualified, even if there is a property tax rate increase. Davidsonand Sumner counties and Goodlettsville all
participate in the tax freeze program.
Sumner County residents of Goodlettsville must call the SumnerCounty Trustee's office at 452-1260 to make an appointment to applyat Goodlettsville City Hall on Aug. 26 and 27. Davidson Countysenior residents must call the Davidson County Trustee's office at862-6330 to make an application appointment for dates beginningAug. 11.
To qualify for the freeze, senior property owners must be 65 orolder by the end of the year and have income from all sources notexceeding a county maximum.
In 2008, the income limit in Sumner County is $31,280. In DavidsonCounty, the limit is $35,390. Qualifying property owners mustreapply each year. Workshop supports women in business
The next Women at the Table of Power luncheon will be 11:30 a.m.1p.m. Aug. 1, at the Nashville Business Incubation Training Center,315 10th Ave. N.
The workshop will share skills vital to women getting ahead inbusiness, either as entrepreneurs or corporate America. The guestspeaker will be Derek Young, president of Young Motivation Group.

The ninth annual Mayor's First Day Festival will be 25 p.m.Sunday, Aug. 3, at Sommet Center, 501 Broadway.
The festival is a way to kick off the school year. There will beschool supplies, entertainment and educational activities.
This year's event will include a food drive for Second Harvest FoodBank. People are asked to bring a nonperishable food item to bedonated. Circle Players schedules auditions for 'Oliver!'
Circle Players is holding open auditions for the community theaterproduction of Oliver! , a British stage musical by Lionel Bart loosely based on CharlesDickens' novel Oliver Twist .
Auditions are 11 a.m.3 p.m. Aug. 16, and 6:30-9:30 p.m. Aug. 18.Callback times are to be announced.
Auditions will take place at the Circle Players rehearsal facilityin Madison, 801 N. Gallatin Pike, in the back of Madison SquareShopping Center.
Roles are available for men and women of all ages and ethnicities.Actors are to prepare 16 bars of an up-tempo song in the correctkey.

Anyone interested is welcome to attend and/or join. The guild'smission is education, fellowship and charity. various charitable organizations.

Haynes Design Center and H.G. Hill Middle have been selected as twoof 25 recipients from Tennessee to participate in the Fresh Fruitand Vegetable Program.
Through the program, the schools will receive about $38 per studentto purchase and provide fresh and dried fruits and vegetables at nocharge to all children attending the schools. The grant is goodthis month through Sept. 30, 2009.
The program's primary goals are to create healthier schoolenvironments by providing healthier food choices, to expand thevariety of fruits and vegetables children experience, to increasechildren's fruit and vegetable consumption, and to make adifference in children's diets to impact their health.
