White, Powdery Substance Found At Bellevue Post Office Identified

BELLEVUE, Neb. - A Bellevue Post Office was evacuated on Thursdaymorning after a package broke open and white, powdery substancefell out. Investigators said that substance was tapioca withstarch, a West African specialty. Officials told KETV NewsWatch 7that a hazmat team was at the scene decontaminating five employeeswho came into contact with the substance.
The FBI, Bellevue Police, Bellevue Fire, and the Postal Inspectorwere called into track down the sender and receiver of the package.
Investigators said the substance was in a 2 foot box that brokeopen during transfer from one post office to another. Five workerswho handled the box touched the tapioca. They were decontaminatedand found to be safe.
