KUWAIT CITY : The Philippines is keen on boosting its tradingactivities with Kuwait and inviting more investors to venture inthe country, disclosed Philippine Trade Attache Paisal Abdullah ofthe Philippine Trade & Investment Centre based in Jeddah, SaudiArabia who arrived in Kuwait this weekend. Abdullah who was inKuwait last year for the International Food Exhibition (IFEX)Middle East Road Show stated that the road show generatedtremendous positive results in terms of the market penetration ofPhilippine products in Kuwait and other GCC countries and thegrowing demands for such products. Im here to meet with someKuwaiti companies and businessmen to follow up what we havediscussed during the last road show, explained Abdullah who wasalso accompanying another businessman from the Philippines PaulVanjani, President of D Fortune Philippines, Inc. Abdullah citedthat the export of Philippine products has grown up to 20 to 40 percent in the recent years.
In Saudi Arabia, the total Philippine exports amounted to $17million while in the UAE, its $200 million, he said. He addedthat Dubai has become a jump off point of Philippine products andmost buying agents are there due to its investor friendly traderegulations. We hope that we can also do more business in Kuwait.With the presence of more than 130,000 OFWs, there has been anincreasing demand for Filipino products, he stressed. He disclosedthat the Philippines trading activities in Kuwait has increasedfrom $2 million to more than $10 million recently. There is a verybright prospect here in Kuwait just waiting to be tapped, heoutlined.
