SPI hires adviser to explore Stolichnaya options

Stolichnaya, the Russian vodka brand, will be in the sights ofdrinks groups around the world after the company that controls thebusiness and its distribution rights appointed an adviser to lookat its options.
SPI, the Russian group, set off a possible bidding war for abusiness with a valuation put by analysts at about $3bn by hiringLehman Brothers. It may be considering either a full sale of thebrand or the sale of its international distribution rights.
