Trinity Upgrading Nurse Call System | Video 9/16/2008 Hospital patients who are suffering or need some assistance don`tlike to wait any longer than they have to. Trinity Hospital ismaking strides to improve medical care and doctor and nurseefficiency.

Thanks to the new nurse call system at Trinity Hospital, RobinForbes` patient will receive the care they need immediately.

Forbes is a Assistant Nurse Manager of Pediatrics at Trinity. Thepediatrics ward is one of the first at Trinity to implement the newcall system and Forbes says it is a big improvement from the oldbutton technology.

"If the patient needed a pain medication, the nurse would them haveto go out to the nurses station, get the pain medication and bringit in to the patient. This new nurse call system, the patientpushes the button and somebody at the nurse station can answer thecall and find out what the patient wants," says Forbes.

Each room is outfitted with a call system controller. It allows thepatient to contact the nurses station with the push of a button. The button sets off an alarm both above the door of the patientsroom and at the nurses station. A computer at the station shows theroom number and patient information. Now the patient is just aphone call away.

"You are able to meet their needs much quicker than it was before.Even a simple thing like a glass of water or in pediatrics, apopsicle," says Forbes.

The new system will also makes it easier to track down the locationof each nurse in the ward. Each nurse wears a pager and locaterthat tracks their location.

"With the locater you can look on the screen and find out where thenurse is," says Forbes.

The upgrade prevents delays for patients and saves time forstaff...the end result means a more comfortable stay for patients.

Along with the call system upgrade, the hospital is adding newfloors and flat screen TVs to each ward.
