XINYU CITY,China andSUNNYVALE, Calif., Sept. 23/PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- LDK Solar Co., Ltd. (NYSE: LDK), aleading manufacturer of multicrystalline solar wafers, announcedtoday that it has achieved a major milestone on the 15,000 tons perannum (TPA) photovoltaic (PV) polysilicon project by completing sixmillion safe work hours. This accomplishment was achieved under thesupervision of the company's EPCM contractor, Fluor.
"We are very excited to have logged six million safe work hours,"stated Nick Sarno , Senior VP of Manufacturing and Project Manager at LDK Solar. "Webelieve this outstanding achievement is a testament to ourdedication and commitment to safety, coupled with our drive toexecute our plans on time. We are now entering an important phaseof the polysilicon plant development, with our constructionworkforce more than doubling in the coming months as we beginpiping and equipment installation. We remain on track to producebetween 5,000 and 7,000 tons of polysilicon in 2009. We continue tobe enthusiastic about our relationship with Fluor and are verypleased with their management of our 15,000 tons per annum (TPA)facility.
