Banks such as Siam Commercial Bank, Krung Thai Bank, Kasikornbankand Siam City Bank are all providing banking services via mobilephones.
Siam Commercial Bank provides the most services, including moneytransfers between SCB accounts, interbank transfers with immediatepayment, bill payment, credit for mobile phones, statementbalances, online payment and details of monthly charges.
These services are available to AIS, DTAC, True and Hutchcustomers, provided they have an Internetenabled phone with GPRS,EDGE or 3G. The user must first register for Internet banking via www.scbeasy.com .
Krung Thai Bank provides KTB Pocket Banking, which does not allowinterbank money transfers and is not available to Hutch customers.Customers wanting the service can visit any branch with theirmobile phone, bank book and identity card.
Siam City Bank offers SCIB Mbanking for money transfers betweenSCIB accounts, interbank transfers, checking balances andcreditcard enquiries. Bill payment is not yet provided. The serviceis available to customers who use AIS, DTAC and True mobilenetworks, and they can apply at any branch.
Kasikornbank offers its ATM SIM service, which allows customers tocheck balances, make transfers between Kasikornbank accounts, payelectricity and creditcard bills, top up DTAC phone accounts and beinformed of payment deadlines.
These services are available only to holders of DTAC SIM cards. Fora Bt20 fee, DTAC staff can instal the ATM program into the cardwith no need to change the phone number.
Before August 31, customers were offered balance alerts for free,but if they still want to use this service, they will be chargedBt30 a month. This service will alert customers every hour if thebalance changes.
Bank of Ayudhya provides SMS services for financial alerts,transfer alerts, financial inquiries and bank information, but itscustomers are not allowed to make any financial transactions viamobile phone.
Although Bangkok Bank and TMB Bank do not provide mobile banking,customers with ATM cards can make money transfers via the banks'call centres.
