Troy, MI- Telezygology Inc. has made significant progress with thecommercialization of its Intevia Intelligent Fastening Technology(IFT) with the receipt of development agreements and purchaseorders from three of its early adopter customers.
TZ has been awarded a subcontract under their joint developmentagreement with BAE Systems to provide Intevia mechanisms formilitary qualification testing. This is an important step in thecommercialization and implementation of Intevia technology inmultiple military applications.
"This new agreement is evidence of the tangible progress we'remaking with our early adopter customers," said TZ Group CEO DavidFeber. "Our co-development work this past year with BAE hasgenerated this milestone order, and further enables Inteviatechnology to successfully be introduced into militaryapplications."
A joint partnership was formed late last year between BAE and TZ todevelop, validate and market Intevia technology for militaryapplications. BAE Systems is the global leader in the design, development and production of armored combat vehicles. The originaljoint development agreement calls for Intevia IFT implementation toprovide secure access and improved maintenance solutions to severalapplications under development. The agreement also allowsprovisions for more applications to be developed as therelationship and experience with Intevia Intelligent Technologygrows.
The commercialization of Intevia IFT in the automotive and groundtransportation industries has also taken a major step forward inthe applications that two early adopter customers are developing. An automotive Tier One supplier has issued a purchase order to TZfor the development and engineering of a quick-release seatbeltbuckle mechanism. The Tier One supplier's aim is to always be thefirst to produce innovative and appealing safety systems and theyare advancing toward the development of an intelligent seatbeltbuckle. TZ is establishing a strong relationship with this Tier Oneautomotive supplier and it is expected that they will lead the wayfor implementing Intevia breakthrough technology in futureautomotive safety systems.
Furthermore, TZ is also working with Visteon Corporation in acollaborative effort for the development of an Intevia-enabledelectronic glove box latch. This latch application is currentlyfeatured in a concept vehicle that Visteon has jointly developedwith 3M, a universally-recognized innovator. Visteon is one of theworld's largest automotive suppliers and TZ's first automotiveearly adopter customer, and is known for its vehicle integrationexpertise and for its first-to-market innovations in automotiveclimate, interior and electronics systems. The glove boxapplication is a low-cost latching system that provides increasedsecurity and energy efficiencies as well as improved ergonomicswith effortless control. The integration of Intevia technology, which incorporates shape memory alloy (SMA) actuators, allows forlighter weight and also significant noise reductions over currentdevices and systems used in vehicles. The Intevia-enabledelectronic glove box latch is a robust, proven latching system thatcan be linked to a vehicle's alarm system improving security andsafety while also adding to fuel efficiency because of the lighterweight, reduced-package size.
The concept vehicle, named "X-Wave," features more than 50innovative technologies designed to enhance the driving experienceof upcoming and future vehicles. Two solution-based prototypevehicles have been built to demonstrate technologies that areaddressing such social trends as comfort, connectivity, convenience, health, flexibility and sensory. One vehicle isscheduled to be showcased in several key cities in North Americawhile the second vehicle will visit major European cities.
"Visteon and 3M have a long history of supplying innovativeproducts and services to the automotive marketplace," said TZ GroupCEO David Feber. "It is very significant for Intevia technology tobe recognized by these two industry innovators who have the insightand in-depth understanding of both the car manufacturers and theconsumers who ultimately buy the vehicles."
It is the intention of both Visteon and TZ to continue workingtogether for further development and commercialization of the glovebox latching application as well as other interior applications.
"Working with such innovative early adopter customers as theautomotive Tier One supplier, Visteon and BAE Systems is leadingthe way for our technology to be recognized as the best solution inmany applications across all industries," said Mr. Feber. Thecontinued successful development of applications implementingIntevia technology underscores the high volume opportunities inseveral markets which will allow TZ to build a substantial revenuebacklog.
