Across Systems Introduces New Language Portal as Corporate Platform ?? This enterprise solution will enable implementation of corporate intranet Webportals for all language-related issues.
At the same time Across is releasing the latest update to theAcross Language Server , offering many new functions for the localization of software userinterfaces. These updates are geared to both software manufacturersand machine building companies who localize their machine controldisplay indications for foreign markets.
Portal Solution as Corporate Platform

The new Language Portal Solution provides a simple user interfacethat allows customers operating on an international scale toimplement Web portals for all language-related issues and for allstaff levels who need to make use of language resources. Authorizedusers can put translation jobs on such portals and get an overviewof their processing status at any time. The corporate LanguagePortal as front-end helps to streamline processes, increaseefficiency and cut costs considerably. The Across Language Server as back-end allows a high level of automation of all translationprocess steps including costs calculation, system-based assignmentand transmission of projects to external language serviceproviders. Companies may choose to do the translation in-house orto outsource it, depending on the target language, size of the dataand document type.
Efficient Software Localization
So far, the Across Language Server has mostly been deployed in the fields of product information andproduct documentation. New options for software localizationprovided in this upgrade make new uses possible. As a rule, thewording used in software user interfaces appears in exactly thesame or a similar way in operating manuals, online help andmarketing material. Therefore, wording already translated can bere-used for different output formats; for example, GUI menu textscan be used in online help, and online help texts can be used inoperating manuals. This not only increases the consistency andquality of the contents, but also reduces the time to market forlanguage variants of the software, while cutting translation costssignificantly.
