SAN JOSE, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 07/31/08 -- SkyRecon® Systems ( www.skyrecon.com ), the premier provider of integrated, proactive endpointprotection platforms, today announced that it has engaged with ICSALabs, an industry-recognized testing and certification center, toperform FIPS 140-2 Validation testing for its Embeddable EncryptionModule(TM) -- a core component of its StormShield® unifiedendpoint protection solution.
FIPS 140-2 is a rigorous federal security accreditation jointlydefined by the National Institute of Standards and Technology(NIST) and the Communications Security Establishment Canada (CSEC)that establishes the standard used to accredit encryptionalgorithms and modules intended for use in protecting sensitiveinformation. SkyRecon's Embeddable Encryption Module (EEM) is setto meet this standard by the end of the year, 2008.
Leveraging AES 256-bit encryption standard, the SkyRecon EmbeddableEncryption Module is delivered through a streamlined SDK thatprovides an extremely lightweight, efficient implementation ofon-the-fly file-based encryption services. Upon completion of thevalidation, SkyRecon's own use of the EEM in their current releasedversions of StormShield and TradeShield solutions will provide theimmediate benefit of quality assurance to its existing customersand future prospects. Similarly, technology partners that haveintegrated the EEM in their own product offerings will pass thesesame benefits on to their clients.
