A large group of people had to be rescued after becoming trapped bya fast-rising tide at a Norfolk resort.
Yarmouth Coastguard were called to Wells-next-the-Sea during theafternoon and found 21 people stranded around the area of Bob HallSands.
Emergency services were alerted by a phone call from a woman askingfor help for her husband trapped by the tide.
A coastguard spokesman said: "Most were led to safety but eightwere brought ashore by the RNLI inshore lifeboat."
Fast rising tide
Coastguard watch manager Mario Siano said: "What strikes us is thatin this highly popular spot for summer visitors on such a balmyday, tourists just don't read the signs.
"There is specifically a klaxon installed at the harbour to alertpeople out on the sands to the change of tide, and yet still peoplechoose to walk out.
"Our advice is that if you don't know the area very well or how toget back, then ask someone, or at least check the weather and tideswith the coastguard.
"The weather has been marvellous today locally, high clouds, warmsun and flat seas. A perfect day.
"But the tide will still come in very quickly, and trap the unwaryas it did today. Our thanks are due to the lifeboat crews who endedup providing a virtual ferry service."
