The VRRP imparts a single virtual gateway in multiple routerenvironments. The routing protocol along with the support of otherprotocols automatically selects a new route with the same virtualIP address as the local gateway address that is specified onuser’s network devices, thereby eliminating the need forreconfiguring multiple devices with new routes. The VRRP can alsomonitors the WAN link, thereby facilitating the user to switch tonew default route when the primary connectivity is lost, whileretaining the same virtual default gateway and IP address.
