Bharti Airtel Group Q1 Net Profit Up 52% On Highest-ever Mobile Base

Thursday, Bharti Airtel Ltd., a private sector providerof telecommunication services, announced financial results for thefirst-quarter ended June 30, 2008, reporting a higher consolidatednet profit on increased revenues and on the back of highest-evernet addition of mobile customers.
 
Consolidated Results As per Indian GAAP
Bharti Airtel posted first-quarter consolidated net profit ofRs.2,166.68 crores, up 52% from Rs.1,424.22 crores for the sameperiod last year.
 
For the quarter, company's revenue from service and sales of goodsrose 45% to Rs.8,506.00 crores from Rs.5,873.52 crores in thecorresponding quarter last year, while other income was Rs.61.58crores, compared with Rs.83.70 crores in the previous year quarter.
 
During the quarter, revenue from Mobile Services increased 47% toRs.6,920.48 crores from Rs.4,703.57 crores in the first-quarter of2007, while revenue from Telemedia service grew 22% to Rs.797.37crores from Rs.653.72 crores for the same period last year.

Revenue from Enterprise Services-Carriers increased 63% toRs.1,575.11 crores from Rs.967.72 crores in Q1 FY07, whereasEnterprise-Corporates revenue grew 59% to Rs.425.78 crores fromRs.268.46 crores in the prior year quarter. For the quarter, revenue from Passive Infrastructure Services wasRs.1,055.83 crores, whereas revenue from others was Rs.119.61crores, compared with Rs.45.51 crores in the year-ago quarter.
