E-TEN Information Systems Co Ltd of Taiwan is exhibiting the"DX900" HSDPA smartphone with two SIM card slots atComputex Taipei taking place in Taipei, Taiwan.
SIM cards for 2G (GSM/EDGE) or 3.5G (HSDPA) access technologies canbe inserted to the slots. However, only one slot supports 3.5G, sousers can insert two 2G cards, or 2G and 3.5G cards.
Although the smartphone supports HSDPA data communications, no 3G(W-CDMA) voice call is available (while 2G voice call isavailable), the company said.
The smartphone allows users to use two numbers per handset. This isthe same system as NTT DoCoMo Inc's 2in1 service available inJapan. It is also available to use the handset overseas byswitching SIM cards to local prepaid SIM cards while traveling.
Its OS is Windows Mobile 6.1. Bluetooth, wireless LAN and GPScapabilities are supported. Shipments are slated to begin inSeptember or October 2008. Without limiting its marketing area, thecompany will ship the handset to areas that need them. As forpricing, "We can't say at the current time as it will dependon our OEM," an attendant said.
