Delcam launches latest version of PartMaker CAM software

Delcam has launched the latest version of its PartMaker family ofsoftware. The PartMaker range includes the leading systems for theprogramming of turn-mill equipment and Swiss-type lathes, plussupporting software for milling, turning and wire EDM. PartMakerVersion 8.6 features a number of productivity-enhancingimprovements, including improved solids-based programming, toolselection, surface machining and simulation. All these enhancementsare designed to make PartMaker users more productive across thefull range of applications.

PartMaker Version 8.6 represents another value-added release forPartMaker users across all of our applications modules, accordingto Hanan Fishman, President of Delcam's PartMaker Division. Theenhancements will make the programming of parts requiringmulti-axis machining techniques more productive than ever before.

Solids-based Programming
PartMaker Version 8.6 sees the introduction of the concept of FacePlanes. When programming a part from an imported solid model, aFace Plane indicates very clearly the plane in which machining isoccurring. Face Planes simplify the programming of parts withmultiple faces from solid models and improve visualization of theareas that need to be machined on a model. They simplify thedefinition of multiple coordinate systems in PartMaker, whichallows the user to perform surface machining more easily acrossmultiple parts or on multiple sides of the same part. Face Planesalso give the ability to set a view normal to any surface morequickly.

For Cylindrical Surfaces, a Face Plane can be displayed wrappedor unwrapped. The user can then specify the transfer of justslots and holes for indexing, or unwrapped geometry for cylindricalmilling.
