Miniature dc/dc converter reduces power consumption

Murata Electronics North America has launchedits MPDTY201S miniature dc/dc converter. Designed with a smallfootprint (11.4 x 8.9 x 5.6 mm) in a surface-mount package toreduce board space, the dc/dc converter offers high efficiencyacross the industrial operating temperature range in order tominimize power consumption. Targeting distributed powerarchitectures in telecommunications and datacommunications markets,the converter is also well-suited for base stations, routers, FTTx,computer servers, instrumentation and test equipment.

The MPDTY201S achieves high efficiency thanks to synchronousrectification and reduces board space through the use of advancedceramic and ferrite technologies, Murata said. Requiring only smallexternal ceramic capacitors on the output, the MPDTY201Spoint-of-load converter also offers a wide input voltage range, anadjustable output voltage and remote on/off switch control. Theconverter also includes an output voltage sense function.
