Premo introduces planar transformer

The new Premo planar transformer for automotive is a suitablesolution for the automotive market that accomplish specific sectorstandard, AEC Q-200. It has been formerly conceived for ISGsystems.

It can be used in DC/DC converters and traction invertersin hybrid vehicles. It has been developed under vacuum pottingtechnique that allows a high isolation level (10kV). The featureincludes high power management (1.7kW to 5kW) in a 3.3cm heightprofile and less of 100cm2 room area. Product is presented within ashell shaped aluminium heat sink.

This shape allows an isotropicheat transfer that increases component's performance. Laminatedinner design allows a high efficiency: rated losses are below 1% oftotal output power and effects such as skin and proximity have beenconsiderably reduced. Premo has developed a mechanical fasteningsystem on it in order to improve final assembly structure in frontof mechanical stress tests. Selected raw materials constitute ahigh temperature resistant system up to 180ºC.

The new developmentfor power transmission platforms for hybrid vehicles increases thequantity of power electronics inside the cars, expanding the use ofPREMO inductive components.
