San Diego, CA - Ethertronics Inc. recently unveiled two newinternal DVB-H and FM antennas designed to power an array ofadvanced industrial designs, mobile handsets and video products. Aspart of Ethertronics' new Tavvel line of actively tuned embeddedantennas, which provide significant link budget improvements whilemaintaining a simple interface, compact size, and low currentconsumption, both the DVB-H and FM antenna solutions are engineeredto address the challenges associated with incorporating multiple RFfunctions into portable devices.
Ethertronics' Tavvel embedded tunable DVB-H antenna delivers on thekey needs of today's portable media product designers by deliveringhigh performance and low power consumption for small form factorsincluding mobile phones, notebook computers, portable media playersand other video products. Designed to operate on the entire DVB-Hrange of frequencies, from 474 to 870 MHz, Ethertronics' tunableDVB-H antenna has been optimized to deliver average efficiency of40 percent with current consumption of less than 100uAmps with acompact footprint of 50x13x1mm. In addition, the antenna elementcan be implemented in a variety of device form factors and requiresa simple DC control voltage between 0 to 2.8V to tune the antennato a specific frequency (channel) within the DVB-H band.
The new Tavvel embedded active FM antenna solution is ideal forintegration into handheld devices, cellular phones, PDAs, laptopsand other devices. Measuring approximately one cm 3 , the tunable antenna operates at the frequency range of 87.5
