These developments, with copper cabling now able to supportfrequency ranges up to 1000MHz, provide further proof that coppersolutions can continue to evolve to meet the needs of highbandwidth applications well into the future. Nexans is launchingits new LANmark-6A systems and LANmark-7A cabling simultaneously tofurther reinforce its position as provider of choice for customizedinfrastructures.
We are happy to announce the launch of LANmark-6A and -7A in theMiddle East region, says Tarek Helmy, Regional Director, Gulf& Middle East, Nexans Cabling Solutions. Nexans stronglybelieves in investing in R & D to create innovative solutionsfor our customers. The new LANmark-6A and -7A range arerevolutionary concepts in copper cabling technology, which willchange the way datacentre networks are built in the region. TheLANmark-6A is an ideal solution for modern data centres, which arealready facing severe space constraints with long and heavy cablesand the LANmark-7A is the first solution in the world to offer acapacity of up to 50 Gigabit and high frequency support.
LANmark-6A Optimising short distance applications
More than 80 per cent of modern data centrespredict that they will be employing 10 Gigabit within the next 5years to meet their requirements for more bandwidth, highercapacity and higher density. Nexans is prepared for thesedevelopments with its Cat 6A Zero Risk Solution based on shieldedproducts that ensure immunity from alien crosstalk. Recognising thecost advantages of copper compared to fibre solutions, the marketclearly demands a copper solution for applications of up to 100metres that will be compatible with existing equipment.
The new LANmark-6A range, supported by a newly developed connectorwith excellent electrical performance, offers up to threeconnection points within 10 metres. This makes it an ideal solutionfor modern data centres that are already facing severe spaceproblems with cables that are too long and heavy. Previously, thistype of approach was not achievable with most 10G compliant coppercabling solutions. Now, this flexibility is available for datacentres in a lower-cost copper solution that also addresses thecritical space and storage problems presented by over-lengthcabling.
There are also various other significant benefits for data centres, such as 360
