Samsung unveils touch-screen smart phone

Singapore: South Korea's Samsung on Monday unveiled its latestsmart phone, a touch-screen model to be commercially launched inSoutheast Asia this week.
The Omnia, which means "everything" in Latin, comes with a fivemegapixel built-in camera, 3.2-inch (eight-centimetre) screen aswell as video functions, the company said.
With its touch-sensitive screen, drag and drop operation and anon-screen Qwerty keyboard, the Omnia also comes with GPS fornavigation, Microsoft Office document viewer and Microsoft WindowsMobile professional software, Samsung said.
"The Omnia mobile range will help users to be at the forefront ofwork and play and at the same time, to stay connected anytime,anywhere," Geesung Choi, president of Samsung Telecommunicationssaid.
No pricing details were available.
Samsung launched its Omnia one week after Apple unveiled itstouch-screen-activated 3G iPhone built for high-speed wirelessnetworks, with faster Internet access and more features forbusiness users than its previous iPhone.
Omnia's launch came ahead of CommunicAsia, billed as the region'sleading information and communications technology conference andexhibition, which begins on Tuesday in Singapore.
