BTX Introduces New EXPAND-ON Sleeving Machine

BTX Technologies, a manufacturer and distributor ofprofessional-grade products used to interface A/V, broadcast, hometheatre, data and security systems, has introduced the EXPAND-ON, anew patent-pending machine that eliminates the process of applyingexpandable sleeving to a cable bundle.
Designed to work with cable bundles of 50 feet, 100 feet and muchlonger, and accommodating sleeving ranging from half an inch to oneand three-quarter inches, this new machine reduces the time ittakes to apply expandable sleeving from hours to a few minutes,saving installers both time and money.
Typically, technicians apply expandable sleeving by 'inch-worming'the sleeving up the length of the cable, which can be very timeconsuming with 50-foot and 100-foot cable bundles. However, withthe EXPAND-ON sleeving machine, one simply loads the sleeving overthe tube, pushes the wire bundle through the inside of the tubeuntil it appears out of the other end, then pulls both the sleevingand wire bundle together to the desired length.
Greg Schwartz, President of BTX, said: "We are pleased to add theEXPAND-ON sleeving machine to our long list of products thatprovide ease of use for installers and technicians. Applyingexpandable sleeving to a 100-foot cable can be extremely timeconsuming and tedious. With the EXPAND-ON sleeving machine, theprocess is simplified greatly, saving installers and technicianshours of time and substantial cost."
The EXPAND-ON machine features 3-foot tubes for cable bundles up to50 feet in length and 6-foot tubes for cable bundles up to 100-feetin length. With diameters from half an inch to one and a halfinches, the tubes can be used with a wide range of expendablesleeving sizes, from half an inch to one and three-quarter inchesin diameter. Depending on the size of the bundle and the diameterof the sleeving, cable bundles much longer than 100 feet can beachieved.
Three different EXPAND-ON kits are available for installers. TheDeluxe Kit features a base unit, a stand to mount the machine on,and a full set of tubes. The Complete Kit includes a base unit thatcan be mounted to a standard bench and a full set of tubes. TheSingle Kit consists of the base unit and the most popular 1-inchtube.
