Epcos - PVC-free temperature sensor cable contains no halogensA temperature sensor with a PVC-free cable that contains no halogens, environmentally harmful plasticizers, or stabilizers with heavy metals, has been developed by Epcos.
This means that no corrosive or toxic gases are released in the event of a fire, and little smoke is produced. In addition, no dioxins hazardous to health are formed at the end of its life cycle when the M3000 series product is disposed of. The M3000 series already meets future specifications for restricting environmental hazardous substances in household appliances, says the company.
The new temperature sensors follow the success of its predecessor, the M2000, that has for some years been the leader in reliability tests on the market for refrigerators and freezers. In the temperature cycling test, for example, the M3000 series also withstands a total of 50,000 cycles from -20C to +30C in water as well as 1000 cycles from -40C to +80C in air.
The company has also improved the performance features of its temperature sensors with cables. They now offer moisture resistance at temperatures of up to 80C. Their resistance drift is significantly below two percent after immersion in water at 80C for 2000 hours and storage at 85C and 85 percent relative air humidity. In addition to refrigerators and freezers, the M3000 series is also suited to other applications such as floor heating systems, says the company.
