Ozmo Devices Wi-Fi PAN Mouse to fight Bluetooth Mice

Ozmo Devices is developing low-power Wi-Fi Personal Area Network(Wi-Fi PAN) solutions that are supposed to compete with Bluetoothand other shortrange wireless solutions.
Ozmo Devices and Avago Technologies announced today an opticalmouse design kit leveraging Ozmo's Wi-Fi PAN solution.

The Ozmo Devices Wi-Fi PAN solution enables connectivity betweenperipherals such as mice and headsets and Wi-Fienabled platforms.The reference design kit, OZMO-AV35-RD, utilizes Ozmo DevicesOZMO1000 IC, and Avagos ADNB-3532 optical mouse sensor.

Ozmo also announced today a collaboration with WolfsonMicroelectronics to deliver an audio reference design tomanufacturers of audio peripherals leveraging Ozmos Wi-Fi PANtechnology.
The OZMO1000 Audio Reference Design utilizes WolfsonMicroelectronics WM8987L, the worlds smallest CODEC with fullydifferential-capable headphone driver. The WM8987L provides highperformance and low power consumption in a small 4mm x 4mmfootprint. The device works on a 1.8V power supply, yet providesthe same audio volume as larger devices using a 3.3V power supply.
The Ozmo Devices OZMO1000 is a fully integrated IC leveragingOzmos Wi-Fi PAN technology. Its dual band radio design iscompatible with Ozmo-enabled IEEE802.11g and IEEE802.11a wirelessLAN hosts. Its unique power management approach enables low powerconsumption while maintaining very low latency.

Ozmo is providing the enabling technology to other manufacturersbut no end user products. The Ozmo Devices two-part solutionincludes a driver that coexists with the host platforms Wi-Fidevice and a highly integrated, ultra-low-power component embeddedin the wireless peripheral. Ozmo Devices approach leverages aplatforms existing Wi-Fi device to provide concurrent WLAN andWPAN functionality.
To leverage the existing Wi-fi infrastructure totally makes senseand helps reduce cost for computers and peripherals.
