Franciscan Skemp breaks ground in Holmen

Jul. 31--HOLMEN, Wis. -- Franciscan Skemp broke ground Wednesdayfor a new Holmen clinic in partnership with Altra Federal CreditUnion.
The clinic will be located at the intersection of Holmen Drive andHale Road, and Altra's new office will be in another building onthe same property with a common access road. Both constructionprojects are expected to be finished by early spring.
Franciscan Skemp will relocate its existing clinic behind HolmenSquare to the new site, expanding from 7,500 square feet to 20,000square feet. Altra Federal Credit Union will build a 5,000-squarefoot facility south of the clinic.
John Nemec, Franciscan Skemp vice president of regional services,said the cost of the land and building for the clinic is $5.5million, with another $500,000 for medical equipment.
Obstetrics-gynecology and podiatry will be added to pediatrics andfamily medicine services. The clinic also will house a pharmacy andan outreach suite for select specialty services.
"We anticipate more growth at the new Holmen site," Nemec said."We'll have more space and services to draw more patients fromaround the area."
The clinic will occupy 2 1/2 acres of land, Altra 1 1/2 acres. Thelocation was important because of the access to Hwy. 35, Nemecsaid.
Altra's new office features a full-service lobby with the latesttechnology, drive-up lanes, safe deposit boxes and a 24-hourdrive-up ATM. The drive-up lanes will feature TV screens thatswitch from the teller to news, weather and sports programming.
Altra has two offices in La Crosse, and one in Onalaska, LaCrescent and Winona. In addition, Altra has offices inside Holmenand Central high schools as part of an educational partnership withthe school districts.
