"...with prices starting at $1599, we're certain some desperaterender shop will take the plunge."
*roll eyes* - Nilay, my man - have you ever actually been to a"render shop"? They don't use Macs much and if they do its not forthe rendering part. Take a trip over to ILM in San Franciscosometime - make it past all their security and soon you'll seezillions of 1U servers - render farm nodes running Linux (withMaya, renderman, etc)
More power to "PSYSTAR" if they sell any units given they'reattempting to peddle a server OS that has near no respect in theindustry as far as servers O/S's go. Even Apple themselves don'ttake their server product that seriously (they nixed the Xraidenclosure, and their Xserve has a maximum capacity of THREEinternal drives - WHOO HOO!). You won't really see them anywhereexcept for places with sweetheart deals with Apple or for whomApple "donated" them as showpieces to sit behind glass in commonareas.
On top of all that, investing in a server to run OSXhack86? Wherethe next apple update that comes around will likely not take?
Bottom line: a hacked version of an O/S nobody really cared aboutin the first place running on generic Intel 5400 based hardware -these guys have NO money for any legal defense so its clearly afly-by-night where they're all set to cut and run as soon as po-poshows up.
