Panasonic launches long lasting Alkaline batteries in India

Panasonic Battery India Co., Ltd, an overseas Manufacturing andSales company of the Japan based Matsushita Battery Industrial Co.,Ltd., one of the leaders in the development and manufacture ofBatteries in India, today launched a range of long lasting Alkalinebatteries for the Indian market.

These Panasonic Alkaline batteries hold top-level performance andquality. The company launched four types of models in batteriesAA/2pcs, AA/4pcs, AAA/2pcs, 9V/1pc (all blister pack).

The new batteries represent the progress and prowess of Panasonic'sbattery technology. They incorporate Panasonic's deep knowledgeabout Battery manufacture & use of innovations which are evident inthe battery structure, materials and manufacturing process, makingthem longer lasting than the 2006 model.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. S.K Khurana, Managing Director,Panasonic Battery India Co. Ltd. said The demand for the alkalinebatteries in India is growing. We understand the potential ofAlkaline batteries and aim to make our presence felt in a big wayin this segment. As a comprehensive battery manufacturer, we makeprogress year by year. Currently we are launching a range of fourmodels and will develop further product line-up with the time tocome.

They will be made available in the metros initially, followed bythe rest of the country. We aim to achieve top-level share in Indiaby 2010 and establish even stronger sales and distributionnetwork, added Mr. Khurana further explaining the marketing plans.

The majority of the total batteries demand is manganese battery inIndia, at an approximate of 2,235 million pieces in FY2006. Thetotal current demand of Alkaline batteries is 22 million pieces andit is only about 1% of total dry battery demand. However, thedemand continues to grow and is expected to reach up to 558 millionpieces by 2017.
