GE Provides Integrated Display Systems Worth $55m for UK MOD

GE-Aviation has been selected by AgustaWestland to provide theIntegrated Cockpit Display System on 70 Future Lynx and 30 MerlinCapability Sustainment Plus (MCSP) aircraft for the UK Ministry ofDefence. The contact is valued at more than $55 million over thenext ten years with production deliveries commencing in early 2009.

The integrated cockpit display system utilizes the latesttechnology including a smart 10  x 8  Integrated Display Unit (IDU), flexible&adaptable Remote InterfaceUnit (RIU) and 2 nd Generation Integrated Standby Instrument System (ISIS). GE ' s Cockpit Display System on the Future Lynx and MCSP enhancesoperational efficiencies through commonality with other MOD andAgustaWestland cockpit display suites such as the AW101 and SuperLynx 300.
GE Aviation ' s Integrated Display Unit (IDU) provides a wide field of view, highbrightness, rugged display designed for use as an EFIS, EICAS ortactical mission display. The unit can either be fitted singly as astand-alone display or combined with other IDUs to provide a fullyintegrated Cockpit Display System (CDS). The IDU is a smart unitwith integral display generation, eliminating the need for aseparate display computer, so reducing power, volume, weight andsupport costs and providing superior graphics performance.
