Anyone who's attempted to view full web pages on a typical mobiledevice is often frustrated by the limitations of the screen.Essentially it is like trying to fit a 15-19 inch screen into a2-inch display. With motion browsing technology, the bridge fromlarge to small becomes almost seamless. And unlike pure touchscreen navigation, motion browsing avoids the missed clicks thatare nearly impossible to avoid when touching the screen tonavigate.
How It Works
Motion browsing uses the phone's built-in camera to estimate themotion of the phone ("handset egomotion") and translateit into commands for the browser to pan the web page that is beingviewed. Because motion browsing uses thumbnail size images, itworks regardless of the resolution of the camera. This design is avery compact solution that is easy to integrate into any phone, andvery responsive to user movements. And because it does not needspecific hardware such as an accelerometer or a gyroscope, motionbrowsing brings a powerful new interface paradigm to any cameraphone, not restricting UI advances to the high-end, expensivephones.
Sold exclusively to handset manufacturers, motion browsing isavailable for all the major mobile web browsers, including but notlimited to Teleca's Obigo, and ACCESS NetFront Browser, as well asfor proprietary browsers.
Motion Cortex, the technology behind motion browsing, and thewinner of last year's Mobile Monday Global Peer Awards ("JuryFavorite"), has been implemented in a variety of mobileapplications such as image viewing, navigation, games, and can beintegrated within any mobile user interface involving panningacross a plane or a list.
