Areva T&D India Tests 1,200 KV Capacitor Voltage Transformers

Areva T&D is the first to conform with the next level of powertransmission voltage at 1,200 KV in the country to meet the PowerGrid Corp of India Ltd's (PGCIL) (BSE:532898) requirements for thenational grid by 2012.
This unit would be installed in the PGCIL sub-station at Bina inMadhya Pradesh slated for commissioning by 2009, a press releaseissued here stated.
Areva T&D India's Country President and managing director RathinBasu said, "We constantly endeavour to set new benchmarks and thisis yet another milestone which continues our tradition of offeringthe Indian power sector UHV solutions much before they becomecommon know-how in the country."
The company plans to increase the number of domain experts at itsglobal R&D centre for instrument transformers at Bangalore.
This centre set up in 2006, is playing an integral part to supportthe company's ongoing quest to remain at the forefront oftechnology and innovation in the field of instrument transformers,the release said.
