The Polaroid instant photo has been relaunched for the digital agewith a miniature printer designed to unlock images from mobilephones.
The Polaroid PoGo uses thermal printing technology instead of inkand produces business card-sized colour photos in 60 seconds.
The 227g printer connects to digital cameras as well as phones bythe USB port or Bluetooth wireless.
The device goes on sale in the UK on Friday for £99, with eachsheet of paper costing about 30p.
Polaroid has touted the device as its biggest innovation since thecommercial launch of instant film in 1948.
Tom Petters, chairman and owner of Polaroid, said: "Dr Edwin Land,the founder of Polaroid, reinvented this company many times throughits 70-year history, from polarised lenses to eyewear to the iconicinstant camera.
"With the Polaroid PoGo we're reinventing the magic of instantprinted pictures for the 21st century."
Polaroid announced earlier this year that it would no longer bemaking the film used in the instant camera after the digital ageleft almost no market. The company stopped making the instantcameras about a year previously.
The firm was founded in 1937, making polarised lenses for thescience world and introducing its first instant camera in 1948.
Polaroid peaked in popularity in 1991 when its sales - mainlyinstant cameras and film - hit close to £1.5 billion.
