MAZeT Presents MTI04C

Multi-channel, Programmable Sensor-signal Amplifier as a Naked Chip

Jena, May 26, 2008 - The MTI04C signal amplifier has 4 TIA-basedamplifier channels integrated on a naked chip. It makes it possibleto amplify signals for multi-channel optical sensors, such asarrays or color sensors, while requiring only little space andensuring high functionality. The ability to set the trans-impedanceof the MTI04C to eight different levels offers the customer addedscope to make adjustments in accordance with the applicationrequirements, while at the same time giving the amplifier a higherdynamic range. The amplifier is programmed via three inputs, withthe programming effective for all channels at the same time. It canbe programmed while in operation via microcontrollers.

When various photodiodes are to be switched on, the compensationfor the trans-impedance amplifiers can be adjusted digitally in twosteps (5pF and 80 pF) in accordance with the input capacity of thephotodiodes. The lowest current range is 25 nA. The ability toconvert photo currents to the single-digit nA range makes theMTI04C ideal for even the smallest sensor signals.

The integrated power-down mode allows the MTI04CS/CQ to switch to apower-saving operating mode. If the MTI04C is temporarily notrequired, the zero-signal current consumption can be reduced to 8
