Advent Communications will show the 1.5 metre version of itspopular FlyDrive satellite antenna at Broadcast Asia with its 5000Series electronics package.

The 5000 Series is a small, lightweight, portable but very powerfulelectronics package for SD and HD.

The FlyDrive is designed to be shipped as a flyaway system and thencan be temporarily installed onto a vehicle with longitudinal roofbars.

Advent's 1.5 metre antenna and a basic, single thread 5000 Serieselectronics package can all be contained in five flight cases thatconform to the IATA regulations for checked-in luggage oncommercial airlines.

The 5000 Series electronics is a set of small, but extremelypowerful, electronic units for satellite uplinks. In Its simplestform it can comprise a DVE5000 switchable encoder/modulator for SDand HD, ACU5000 antenna control unit, and AUC5000 block upconverterin a 5000 Series ½ rack flightcase weighing around 14kg.

The 5000 Series units are only half the width of a standard 19"comms rack, which makes them ideal for flyaway and vehicle-basedapplications, where space is always at a premium.

The DVE5000 Digital Video Exciter supports Standard Definition MPEGvideo and High Definition. It comes with an integrated L-Bandmodulator and HPA controller and can be upgraded from SD to HD inthe field, without being returned to the factory. This makes itideal for broadcasters who need to buy SD equipment now, but planto shoot in HD in future.

Advent's ACU5000 Antenna Control Units have manual controller andsatfinder, with optional upgrades to provide automatic location ofsatellites and alignment of the antenna. Advent's range of highperformance block upconverters takes L Band input and createsoutputs for C, X, Ku, DBS and Ka Bands.
