Johnstech International has announced that King Tiger Technologyhas chosen to use Johnstech Edge 400a test contactors on KingTiger’s new KT-3 Series testers, for testing DDR3, DIMM, andSODIMM memories. The companies highlighted their alliance atDemonstrations of this technology alliance premiered at the IntelDevelopers Forum (IDF) in August and at Semicon Taiwan last week.
The Edge 400a Series of test contactors, released in July 2007 , was designed specifically to meet the challenges of today’slow-voltage (1.8-V and 1.5-V) high-speed DDR3 memory modules. Thepatented technology combines a modular design for easier componentconfiguration/replacement and improved warped-module-handlingcapability. Johnstech’s SelecTest program offers standardizedreference designs (to JEDEC specs) for quick order turnaround. Tomeet multi-site requirements, standard and custom designs areavailable for 8, 16, 32, and 64 parallel test options. Edge 400a isalso used in DIMM, DDR-DDR5, and PCI/PCI Express applications.
Here are electrical specifications for a 1.0-mm-pitch Edge 400aSeries contactor:
• insertion loss: -1 dB at 12.2 GHz,
• return loss: -20 dB at 2.8 GHz,
• crosstalk: -20 dB @ 20.5 GHz,
• leakage current: < 10 pA at 10 V,
• self inductance: 0.82 nH,
• mutual inductance: 0.31 nH,
• self capacitance: 0.56 pF, and
• mutual capacitance: 0.21 pF.
Casey Pankonien, president of King Tiger Technology Inc., said KingTechnology chose the Edge 400a for its reliability andsignal-integrity performance. but their service after the sale is areal difference maker as well.” Sunny Chang, COO of KingTiger Technology (Canada) Inc., added that service after the salewas also a factor.
King Tiger’s KT-3 Series tester offers advanced programmingfeatures and high-frequency testing for DDR2/DDR3 devices andmodules; it includes the firm’s patented behavioral testtechnology (BTT), which enables test engineers to use actualmemory-device targets—such as PCs—astest-pattern-generation sources, thus more closely replicating realworld test conditions, according to the company.
