• Los Gatos Creek is being dammed for a quarter of a mile forboating, and a number of rowboats are being built. This, inconnection with the new swimming tank, will add greatly to thepleasure of the summer colony at Wrights. This promises to be anunusually large one, as nearly all the available campground alongLos Gatos Creek in the vicinity of Wrights has been rented from A.Matty, and several of the summer cottages are already taken. Theholiday seekers will commence to arrive June 1.
• A water carnival is planned for the evening of July theFourth for the amusement of the cottagers and campers. The creekwill doubtless present a pretty sight, as the trees along the boatcourse will be hung with Chinese lanterns and a band of stringedinstruments will furnish music from one of the boats. The displayof fireworks will be from Table Rock, which is about midway in theproposed scene of festivities. (Sunday Mercury Herald, May 25, 1913)
