Digi-Key Corporation founder and Chairman Ron Stordahl officiallybegan purchasing components from National Semiconductor for his newdistribution business in 1973. Although many of National's partssold well, it was the sale of thousands of National Semiconductorclock modules that played the most significant role in terms ofboth sales and profits that fueled Dig-Key's growth during itsearly, critical years of business. National Semiconductor continuedas Digi-Key's dominant supplier for some time, and even after 35years, National enjoys the rank of fifth largest manufacturer forsales amongst Digi-Key's nearly 400 supplier partners.
