Toshiba to Host Lighting Ceremony for New LED Screen in TimesSquare
Toshiba is installing its TRV2013GC 12.5mm LED display screen in TimesSquare. It replaces the Discover screen, which was inherited whenToshiba purchased the advertising space. The new screen, calledToshiba Vision, will be used to market the company's brand andproducts. A lighting ceremony will be held on Tuesday, July 15 at7pm at Chop Suey restaurant in the Renaissance New York Hotel,Times Square.
The new TRV2013GC 12.5 mm screen will be a 53' by 53', 73.3'diagonal, full-color, high-resolution, video system. It is designedfor outdoor, fixed-installation applications, and offers virtual12.5mm resolution using TECHNOVIRTUAL technology; this worksthrough a proprietary two-dimensional, pixel-sharing scheme thatcreates virtual pixels by sharing LEDs with adjacent ones, allowingcustomers to achieve a high-resolution performance and picturequality that is ideal for outdoor applications, the company says.Its lightweight design and simplified cabling make installationquick and easy; the screen provides low power consumption andrequires little maintenance.
Toshiba senior executives from several divisions will be presentfor the special affair. The event will open at 6pm, with theceremony beginning at 7. The evening will culminate in the lightingof the new screen at 7:30.
