Enemalta investigating high voltage cable faults

Enemalta Corporation said that a high voltage cable fault incidentoccurred on Friday 27 June at 12.37pm in Mikiel Anton VassalliStreet and as a result a power failure was registered in parts ofSliema, Msida and Ta' Xbiex.

In a statement issued yesterday, Enemalta said it took immediateaction and restored electricity supply by 2.39pm, disruptingelectricity service for around two hours.

On Tuesday, 1 July at 6pm another fault occurred on the same highvoltage cable in the same street, at a distance of approximately 60metres from the original fault and this time a power failure wasregistered in Msida Circus and parts of Ta' Xbiex. Electricity wasrestored later at 7.13pm.

Enemalta Corporation is investigating the faults on the same cablefurther and as a result one lane of Mikiel Anton Vassalli Streetwas closed down in the direction towards St Julian's yesterday.
