The Guizhou-Guangzhou speed railway project is to commence soon,released by Lin Shusen, Governor of Guizhou province in southwestChina, during a forum with a business commission led by LiangShaozhen, vice executive director of Guangzhou Chamber of Commercefor Overseas Chinese Enterprises. It will take only 3 hours fromGuizhou to Guangzhou upon the new railway's accomplishment.
Now there are only two common railways connecting Guangzhou andGuizhou. One runs through Hu'nan province with 1560 kilometersdistance needing over 22 hours to get to the destination. The otherrunning through Guangxi's Liuzhou city is 1490 kilometers long andtakes over 27 hours.
Actually the linear distance from Guizhou to Guangzhou is only some700 kilometers.
Investment for the 820-kilometer speed railway under plan is 18billion yuan (2,576 million USD), said Lin. It will take only some3 hours to get to Guangzhou from Guizhou at a high speed of 250kilometers.
Guangdong would benefit mostly from the project after itscompletion, Lin remarked. Also transportation and logistics wouldalso boom in Guangzhou as the central city of the Pan Pearl RiverDelta.
