With over 850 cables, igus currently has the most extensive rangeof energy chain applications to date, but the company wants to makecable selection easier.
igus told manufacturingtalk that this is especially important whenconsidering international standards, material approvals and servicelives.
* Bundle stranded, flame-resistant and halogen-free - CF77 and CF78are twisted in layers for seven or less wires (nominal voltage U0/U300/500V) and stranded in bundles for 12 or more wires (U0/U300/300V).
The cables are stranded in bundles around a strong tensile ropecore to avoid 'corkscrews' and broken cores.
Yet, said igus, the outer diameter of the control cables is just asslim as comparable types that are only stranded in layers.
* Abrasion-resistant - the highly abrasion- and bend-resistantouter sheath, which is made of PUR extruded under pressure into allthe gaps and gussets of the cable, ensures additional stability andis flame-retardant as well as halogen-free.
The oil-resistant series has UL/CSA approval and is DESINAconforming.
* Clean room use - finally, the cables are also suitable for clean roomconditions (ISO Class 1).
First types of the new Chainflex family CF77/CF78 are available exstock, and continual extension of the available types will takeplace during 2008.
