Let's rewind to 1999. Lance Armstrong and Serena Williams begantheir dominance in the sports world, former President Clinton goes on trial, and students at an unknown High School in Coloradogo on a shooting rampage. Oh, and you couldn't escape the minutiaassociated with the doom of mankind: the Y2K bug.
No Prince, we weren't all partying in 1999, thank you very much.
But some of us were gaming. And 1999 was the year Razer unveiledthe Boomslang, the first gaming mouse. Although the idea of a mousefor gaming seemed a bit obscure back in the day, Razer's creationopened the floodgates and ushered in a new genre of input devices, which has since paved the road for juggernauts like Logitech andMicrosoft to turn a profit from this industry.
For nostalgic gamers who miss their old Boomslang, or simplycoveted someone else's, Razer has released the BoomslangCollector's Edition. There are only 10,000 units worldwide, and thecost is a penny less than a Benjamin. Better mice can be had formuch less in price, so you can probably snag yourself a newBoomslang if you really wanted to.
The new Boomslang maintains the form factor of its predecessor withits pudgy, Y-shaped, ambidextrous design, yet includes severalrefinements to contend with today's mice, such as Razer's new 3Ginfrared sensor (1800 dpi), enhanced internal mechanics forclicking and scrolling, and a Titanium and rubber finish toimproved durability and grip.
