Tag : Drop Cable

Infinera (NASDAQ: INFN) announced today that the Infinera DTN hasreceived a 4-Diamond rating in Broadband Gear Report's (BGR) 2008Diamond Technology Reviews. This prestigious award recognizesinnovative product achievements in the broadband sector.
The 4-Diamond rating denotes an "excellent product with technicalfeatures and performance that provide clear and substantialbenefits." The Diamond Technology Awards are decided by a panel ofindependent judges including engineering executives from BresnanCommunications, Charter Communications, Suddenlink, Time WarnerCable, and other industry leaders.
The Infinera DTN digital ROADM (Reconfigurable Optical Add/DropMultiplexer) leverages large-scale photonic integration technologyto deliver a scalable optical transport platform that offersgreater speed of installation and deployment, enhanced flexibility, and simplified operations. With transport and digital bandwidthmanagement integrated into a single platform, the DTN digital ROADMoffers greater bandwidth efficiency, supports the switching andgrooming of traffic at the sub-wavelength level, and eliminates thecomplexities of optical layer engineering that arise in traditionaloptical ROADM-based networks.
"The Diamond Technology Reviews' judging panel found Infinera's DTNdigital ROADM solution to be 'ahead of its time.' They gave it highmarks for its ability to cost-effectively drive high-speed digitaloptic signaling deeper into the network," says Laura Hamilton,editor-in-chief at BGR.
The digital architecture enabled by Infinera's innovative designutilizes Bandwidth Virtualization(TM). With this architecture, anoperator's network creates a pool of available bandwidth that canbe used to deliver any service, anywhere in the network, at anytime. This capability is achieved by decoupling services from theoptical network layer, which dramatically increases the speed andflexibility of the network and eliminates the need for significantoptical layer re-engineering when adding new services or upgradingthe network.
"The Infinera Digital ROADM system has brought value to many cableproviders through the scalability, flexibility and operationalsimplicity of Infinera's digital architecture; and we are verypleased to be honored and recognized by Broadband Gear Report andthe Diamond Technology judges," said Gaylord Hart, InfineraMarketing Director for the cable sector.
Infinera will be at SCTE Cable-Tec Expo show which begins tomorrow.Infinera representatives will be at Booth #123 in Section 1 of theExhibit Hall, and will be available to discuss Infinera productsand technologies with visitors. This year's Infinera booth willfeature Infinera's new line system, ILS2, and a 100 GigabitEthernet demo. For further details see related news release, Infinera Pushes the Optical Frontiers at SCTE Cable-Tec Expo . SCTE Cable-Tec Expo takes place from Tuesday June 24th to FridayJune 27th at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia. The Exhibit Hall opens on Wednesday at 2pm.
About Infinera
Infinera provides Digital Optical Networking systems totelecommunications carriers worldwide. Infinera's systems areunique in their use of a breakthrough semiconductor technology: thephotonic integrated circuit (PIC). Infinera's systems and PICtechnology are designed to provide optical networks with simplerand more flexible engineering and operations, fastertime-to-service, and the ability to rapidly deliver differentiatedservices without reengineering their optical infrastructure.
