These days we keep expecting IRC events to be mega exciting rallies, yet they never cease to amaze. Rally Portugal has a really strong entry list too. There has been plenty of drama and retirements. And yet there is still easily a handful of drivers able to win this rally. I remember a WRC event not too long ago where the same driver won every single stage there was. But a WRC event where the overall lead changed on every single stage? No way! Yet that is exactly what we saw on the IRC round in Portugal today! It is interesting that like the old days gaps per stage could sometimes be big, yet overall the field stayed close together, as if what was gained on one stage, another driver could hit back big on the next. Here a run down how Portugal leg1 unfolded.
